Trip to Texas

One of the biggest things on my "to do" list pre-deployment was to visit Grandma and Grandpa Stahlke.  With a 9 month deployment ahead of us, I thought it would be wonderful to spend a little quality time with the grandparents.  Mike and I flew into Texas where we met up with Jenelle (Mike's sister) at Grandma and Grandpa's winter home in Mission, TX.
We were greeted with a home-made sign
Grandma and Grandpa took us on some day trips.  We visited the nations only hand-pulled ferry dividing two nations (the US and Mexico), and spent some time at a Texas history Museum

We had a delicious lunch in Mexico, and we visited South Padre Island.  My favorite part of the trip was spending time at home playing games, celebrating Grandma's 82nd birthday, and laughing.  Although the trip was short, it was just what we needed to refuel.
